What is Corps Based Community Development (CBCD)?             
Corps Based Community Development is enabling people in any Corps geographic area to achieve their God given full potential through the entry point of the corps.

What is the Purpose of Corps Based Community Development (CBCD)?
Corps will get more involved in identifying and responding to issues in their communities; for example, poor education, illiteracy, environmental pollution, poor health and sanitation, lack of skill training, need for livelihood Programmes and access to clean water etc.

What difference it makes?
Under Corps Leadership community people will organize themselves to present a coherent voice and build systematic relationship with Government Departments. Communities will also get benefit through increased skills and personal development.
Together these will work to improve the environment and opportunities for all current and future generations.

Few ways to help your communities: -  

  1. Gather friends to pick up groceries and medicine for elderly people.
  2. Volunteers to do general home maintenance for senior citizens, widow or other needy people.
  3. Build ramp for a person in a wheelchair to make their house more accessible.
  4. Adopt an old lady or man; write them letter, call them and visit them occasionally to support them.
  5. Provide local nursing treatment to the needy.
  6. Teach a senior people or the people who do not know how to read and write, use mobile phones, computer or the internet.
  7. Plant a community garden, grow your own vegetables, fruits and herbs in an organic garden and encourage doing the same.
  8. Share your technical skills with other volunteers to teach a class at community center.  

What are entry points for Corps Based Community Development?

Ongoing programmes and activities in Corps are of Women Ministries: Home Leagues First Steps Women’s Advocacy Programme, League of Mercy,

Medical Fellowship Team, Youth and Children’s Ministry, Child Protection Training Programme and Awareness Campaigns on Human Trafficking, Breast Cancer, TB, Domestic Violence, Health Awareness Campaigns and other Social Programmes etc. 

These are not the only opportunities as each Corps will be able to meet the needs of their local community.

  • District Education Office
  • District Health Office
  • District Social Welfare Officer, Department of Social Welfare
  • District Livestock Department
  • Vocational Training Institutes: TEVTA, Sanatzar.

What are effective means to mobilize local resources at Corps Level?
People mobilized themselves to contribute the available resources to the Corps; some people can contribute labour, their expertise, their training equipment tools/machinery/furniture, vehicles (motor bike, auto rickshaw, donkey cart) venues, and their links with influencing people for development and empower community.
